Step Seven

A small-scale, short-timeframe game, developed over a couple weeks in the fall. The basic design was to use a giant slingshot to shoot your enemies into the sun (an homage to Bungie’s 7-step plan for world domination). I teamed up with Pablo Poffald for some amazing art.

I’m biased, but I think the coolest feature is the clouds. When we were setting up the art, we found that the clouds looked awesome if we used Photoshop’s “hard light” blending mode. It made them light up as they crossed the sun. However, there’s not exactly a “hard light” render mode in XNA, so I had to build a shader to do it, and the results are awesome.
