When Microsoft announced the first Dream Build Play competition, I knew I had to enter it. I formed a small team, built an engine, and we built Dream Sower.
The premise is that you are part of a team using new technology to help combat chronic nightmares. You do this by entering dreams, fighting back the nightmares, and building a dreamscape in their place – keeping the dream fresh and interesting for the dreamer. There were also challenges that you could complete to earn extra points. The game ended up being a fun balance between running around shooting “nightmares” and building up the landscape to keep the “dreamer” happy.
I’m pretty proud of this project, even with all the “dev art” (I built the art, even though I’m certainly no 3D artist). It was quite the challenge, and ended up as a pretty fun game.
